Crikey, I haven't posted about movies in a while!

Let's think, what have I seen?

Ok, the latest film I saw, on dvd, was Hostage, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0340163/. I thought it'd be a run of the mill hostage drama, but was surprised by how good it was. There were a few twists and turns, relatively predictable, but very good, and very good on the visuals - obviously a director who didn't want to stick with straight forward shooting. Don't know what else to say other than I was impressed, and would recommend this to anyone who likes a good thriller, or Bruce Willis.

I went and saw Terminator Salvation at the cinema. This wasn't so good. I mean, I knew it wasn't going to be exactly cerebral, but they don't even try to get you to like the characters so you just don't care! Y'all know I love Christian Bale, and think he's one of the best actors around at the moment, but again this was a film that he just didn't need to act for, which to me is a waste. Loud, impressive effects, but other than that, I wasn't too taken with it.

I also went to see Star Trek, which I thought was great fun. I won't say much more cos others have talked about it, except beware how old this film might make you feel - the cast all seemed sooo young!!

I just watched PELHAM 1-2-3... the 1974 version with Walter Mathau. It was pretty good! There was a line that went something like, "Why don't you hijack a plane like everybody else?".... and makes me wonder if they'll leave that in the new version.

Movies back then were more based on story than special effects. And even though it was kinda corny and dated, it was still a good movie. I hope that the new Denzel Washington remake does it justice!
