guys was that not the most fantastic episode ever?! so many revelations! and i think we now know what is buried in the swan ;)
nuclear bombs give off electromagnetic pulses (emp's) when they detonate. perhaps an unstable nuke buried in concrete builds up an emp every 108 minutes and pressing a button can defuse the electromagnetism ;) perhaps turning the failsafe detonates the bomb, the last resort. since it is buried in so much concrete it would vaporize the concrete closest to it, then implode in on itself, much like the swan did.

The sister of the woman that Faraday put in a coma is the person who hides John's body for Ben. Wonder when she made the switch from Widmore to Ben or maybe she didnt.

T'was a good ep, but I do have to have it explained by BFO! I totally forgot anything to do with the swan thingy, and just can't remember the old eps well enough to know what's going on!
The woman who was meant to be Faraday's mum - the one in bed with her sister caring for her - that was meant to be his mum right? Why so young? Is she jumping timewise? Is it only the island/island peeps who are jumping? The rest of the world carries on as usual?

but about the bomb and the swan, i'm no nuclear physicist so i don't know if a thick layer of concrete and lead can actually stop a 21 ton hydrogen bomb from still creating an explosion the size of hiroshima. i figure that years of radiation leakage, mixed with dharma harnessing the power of the bomb (perhaps even changing it completely so it isn't much of a bomb anymore and more of a nuclear reactor?) might cause the explosion to be substantially less ridiculously ginormous.
in 1954 the us government was testing nuclear bombs on islands in the pacific, like bikini atol where the largest explosion mankind has ever created took place. interestingly enough in 1954 america made a bomb called Mk-17, codenamed jughead. it is believed to be the first nuclear bomb that was made enmasse and stock piled.
going back to my first point, i did some research on the real jugheads and they had a 15 megaton yield. that is an absurdly powerful explosion. so again i don't know how much concrete and lead is needed to safely mute a bomb of this magnitudes blast. that sort of answer is pretty specific and hard to find haha.
anyways, for your horror, here is a video of a 15 megaton hydrogen bomb going off. truly showcases the sickening destructive power human kind has created. it makes me sick to my stomach to think these weapons have actually been used against people and are still sought after by nations today.
Ok, My first thought would be that if they actually set that bomb off it seems there would be NO island left. However after watching your underground bomb thing.....well ok....maybe. So that just leaves me with on last sticking point. Would there still not be HUGE levels of radiation spread all over the island???
I'm still just SO confused. I agree Bill, we need explnation videos and at the VERY least a time line.
i feel as though this channel might be of interest to you people. it is barren now, but come wednesday it should be ready for action. i think it will be fun to make videos explaining my crazy lost theories. if this doesn't make me the biggest nerd going then i don't know what will!
You know the young woman on the island who takes Faraday to the bomb and he says she looks familiar? That's totally his mum!! The time travel/Universe lady who talks to Ben's name (Faraday's mum probably) is Eloise and the young woman's name is Ellie. Widmore was on the island the same time as her and they're both presumably indigenous and he funds Faraday's work. So since she's indigenous and probably got into the whole time travel thing when she was told they were from 50 years from now, she has a good idea of what's going on with the island which the Universe lady totally does.
Ehrm what else, everyone obviously uses the same lawyer, but Ben is the one who send him to Kate ... totally thought Sun did that, she's at the right place but she has a gun and is probably working with Widmore. But they're all pretty much together now, so they can get back to the island soon.

I think you may be right Kelsey. I would have never caught it, but it mkes sense in that freaky LOST nothing makes sense, but is all connected sort of way.

Hehehe I so called the Faraday's mum thingy-ma-bob! Yay! Any road, kinda trippy with Charlotte actually growing up on the island and Faraday telling her to stay away when she was little, huh? I totally felt bad for Faraday when she died.
Was it just me or did they show a lot more gruesomely unnecessary things in the latest ep?? First they showed the guy getting his arm ripped off while trying to get away from the smoke monster and then they showed Locke's leg bone all shattered and sticking out. GROSS!
So Jin is definitely still alive. If he wasn't he couldn't have met up with Danielle and her crew because he wasn't originally there, and when they flashed at the temple he was all by himself which means he has to be one of the constants. ( I use the word constant because they are always there... )

Why is Sayid so angry with Ben? I was never clear on why they had a falling out from the time he recruited him to kill people for him.
Shit, damn, argh. I just watched the latest episode, but it crashed with only about 3 minutes to go :s What happened at the very end? (John just moved the wheel, and I think the scene cut to a church, probably to meet up with Faradays mom?).
Anyway, poor red. Jin's ring could of course be proof either way... Sun might go for it. But now they've lost Kate and Sayid again ... Hurley is of course still in prison and last time not very willing to do what Ben wants either.
Obviously Jacob being channeled by Jacks father down there. Bit of an ass for not fixing Johns leg when he's a surgeon ... but what can you do.
The arm ripping off was totally not needed ... poor French chick, she really did have to kill her baby daddy, coz he'd gone insane :( tough times for her.

Ahhh okay, the only thing I have to say is that I am almost 100% positive that the promise Ben had to keep was going after Penny like he promised Widmore. That was my immediate thought when he said he needed to keep his promise to an old friend, and when he called Jack from the marina all roughed up, that pretty much sealed the deal for me. I hope he didn't really kill her. I liked her.
I guess I am kinda curious what changed Sayid and Hugo's minds and convinced them to get on the plane. Oh and what happened to Aaron, that Kate will never speak of?! I thought maybe she gave him to Clares mom, but that doesn't seem so horrible that it can never be spoken of!
Oh and I guess the last thing I thought was odd was that Jin was wearing darma close and driving a darma van at the end, which I can only assume is because the flash took them back to when Darma existed? Hmm...
I guess I do have a lot of questions... Just not HUGE questions...

Sayid was under arrest - didn't we last see him at the marina, as a free man? What did he do? And getting onto the same plane? Weird coincidence? If it was just a freaky coincidence wouldn't sayid and hurley have a fit and refuse to fly then?
Surely Aaron left the island too and really needs to return too?
Ben promised Widmore he would get revenge for the death of his daughter after Widmores men shot Aleks at the camp. Well I guess it was technically after Ben left the island when he turned the wheel. It was sometime around the end of last season.
I am guessing Ben set it up so Sayid was arrested. But Hurley bought all those extra seats including his own, so I am guessing he went willingly but I can't figure out why...
I thought aaron would need to return as well because he was the sixth.. Maybe not... I guess we'll see!

Funny stuff, Ben lied, when he said his mother tought him to read ... his mother died at birth. Wonder if he was being funny or if the makers of lost screwed it up.
What else, the whole time pocket thing is highly unbelievable and way out there ... bit of a shame.
Hurley obviously got on the plane because Charlie told him to. He even had the guitar. Nice of him to save the other people by buying all the seats :)
Sayid was arrested, he's flying with a marshall like Kate was during the original flight. They could have arrested him for a number of things. He killed a lot of people, or maybe even war crimes. I'm sure Ben arranged it.
I dont know why Ben's beat up, thats a major question. Could be that he went after Penny. Good idea bug :D Oh and he's on the plane :o But he cant ever come back to the island... but then the plane didnt really crash, its like they all got caught in one of them time flashy things, so we have no idea who all made it to the island.
Aaron is probably with Claire's mom. Claire told Kate one time that she couldnt bring Aaron back. She's honoring that request. It was very hard for her to leave him behind and I dont know what her motives are for returning to the island. Maybe something to do with Sawyer? I dunno.
Also fun that Lepidus (or however you spell it) is flying the plane. If you all remember he was the one that was supposed to fly 816 :)
